Diamont Select Toys / EMCE Toys Planet of the Apes Action Figures 2008
In 2008 Diamond Select Toys in partnership with EMCE Toys released two waves of "retro clothed" Planet of the Apes action figures.
These figures were based on the original Mego figures, with some minor manufacturing differences and are commonly referred to as "retro" figures.
These were extremely close reproductions of the originals except they had 14 points of articulation and retro-styled re-sealable packaging.
There were two waves of figures released. Wave one consisted of Cornelius and a Soldier Ape, sold individually and as a 2-pack. However Wave 2, Doctor Zaius and Zira, were only available as a double pack.
Although these figures are readily available (at the time of writing this, Jan 2020 ) for around $20-$25, there seem to be some issues with flaking and cracking on the vinyl and clothing so finding mint figures is becoming more difficult as time goes on.
