As part of the Kenner Batman the Dark Knight Collection Kenner released three limited edition Deluxe “Crime Master Edition” in 1991. There were three figures 5-inch figures in this sub-series; Blast Shield Batman, Knight Glider Batman and Claw Climber Batman. Collectors have concentrated more on these deluxe boxed figures than the basic blister pack figures as they were produced in much lower quantities and have appreciated nicely the years.
The packaging for these figures was a generic box, with a small see-through window on the right-hand side of the front panel to see the figure inside. On the front, the top left corner featured the black and gold Kenner Batman logo. An animated artist’s image of the figure took up most of the left part of the box. On the bottom left corner was the Kenner logo in blue and the top right hand side had the name of the Batman variant inside written in yellow and black fonts. The window part of the box was framed in dark pink.

On the reverse of the box, the Kenner Batman logo and the name of the figure were at the top of the panel and the rest of the back displayed how to use the accessory or special feature. The figures stood almost 5-inches in height.
The Blast Shield Kenner Batman had a black and dark gray suit with a gold belt buckle and gold highlights on the Batman logo on his chest , he also had white painted eyes, whereas the basic Bola Bullet Batman was painted with a solid black suit. The paint job on this figure gave him a very sleek classic look, Kenner also did a great job with the sculpting, with his exaggerated muscles popping out.
Like the other Kenner Batman figures, this had articulation on the neck, shoulders, and hips. The figure came with a removable cloth cape and a Double Barrel Bola gun. The Bola was a bat wing-shaped shield with two long barrels that shot missiles. The Bola missile launcher needed to be out of the box and came with a clip that attached around Batman’s body. The Bola launcher then fitted onto this ready for Batman to use.
This figure was also re-released in the Batman Returns line as Bola Strike Batman as a TRU Exclusive with slightly different packaging.
MOC Value: $25.00 - $40:00
Loose Value: $4:99 - $15:00
This Kenner Batman figure climbed like a bat, had wings that moved, and it fired missiles, so what wasn’t there to like!!
The Claw Climber had a purple suit on, with a gold belt and black highlights that gave the figure a sleek glossy finish. The figure has some movement at the neck, shoulders, and hips.
He came with a removable cloth cape, a Claw Climber Bat with moving wings, and a firing missile. The Claw Climber Bat was a device that gave Batman the ability to climb up walls or slide across a wireline.
It was shaped like a bat, with both wingtips slightly curved to help it hook on to surfaces. The wings could be moved back and forth.
On the back of the figure’s box, were instructions on how to use the Claw Climber as well as other figures and vehicles in the liner.
This was re-release as a TRU Exclusive in the Batman Returns line in new packaging.
MOC Value: $18:00 - $45:00
Loose Value: $6:00 - $10:00
Night Glider Batman was armed with a giant glider that had moveable wings and a hook to capture his foes. The Night Glider Batman was painted in a blue and black camouflage suit which was an excellent paint job. He also had the Batman logo on his chest with gold highlights and a gold-colored belt.
He also came with a removable cloth cape, a giant glider with movable white wings, and a capture hook. The wings were pretty big and bulky and fitted on to his back like a backpack using a two c-clips that clipped around his waist and neck to hold it in place.
The wings had great articulation and could be moved up and down as well as left and right, they could also fold to form a protective shield. There was also a capture hook on the pack that the wings were attached to that could be released to capture the Penguin or Catwoman and then wound back up to bring them to justice.
The back of the figure’s box had instructions on getting Batman fitted into the glider and how to use the hook.
As with the Blast Shield Batman and Claw Climber figures this was also re-released as a TRU Exclusive Deluxe figure in the Batman Returns line with slightly different packaging. Also, the Polar Blast Batman was repainted in a White and gray Bat suite with white wings, but these were the only things that differentiated it from the Knight Glider..

The other difference was the packaging had the Batman Returns logo and an TRU Limited Edition logo on the front panel, and the display window was framed in yellow.
