Marvel Action Figures Price Guide 1984-1999
Marvel Comics introduced a new superhero with an exciting and quirky twist to his personality in August 1962, in the comic book edition of Amazing Fantasy 15. Unlike many of the rather aloof superheroes of our World, this new superhero displayed a distinct trait of being highly sociable and he is none other than your ‘friendly neighborhood Spider-man’. By the way, did you know that Stan Lee decide to add the hyphen to Spider-man simply to save the confusion between Spiderman and Superman, as he felt they looked to alike without it!!
The super-strength of a spider and spider abilities such as swinging and shooting webs and the agility of a super-gymnast are his main superpowers. Spider-man also has an amazing spider-sense helping him in times of danger and alerting him on his enemy's moves.
He can climb steep vertical walls easily or grab items by swinging from a distance and shooting webs from his wrist.
In order to keep his identity from the public, Peter designed his own spider costume.
Thus Peter Parker is the alter ego of Spider-Man. Leaving high school Peter takes up a career as a photographer and works for the Daily Bugle headed by the dominating J. Jonah Jameson.
The job keeps Peter in just enough cash so that he can contribute towards the household bills and ease the financial burden on Aunt May. Ironically, Jonah Jameson has a patent dislike of Spider-man and is bent on discovering and exposing his true identity.
Peter Parker is thus entrusted with the job of catching Spider-man in action in print no matter where the scene is being staged.
Who better than Peter himself to come up with amazing photographs of Spider-man in the most scintillating actions?
Peter Parker also carries a yen for Mary Jane Watson, his best friend in High School.
From the Green Goblin, Kingpin, Dr. Octopus, Venom, Scorpion, Venom, Carnage and Sandman to Chameleon his list of enemies is long and over the years Spider-man has engaged in fierce battles defeating each of them.
What is interesting is that most of Spider-man's enemies also have super powers gained as a result of scientific experiments gone wrong.
But whereas they are hell-bent on destruction Spider-man is the ultimate superhero out to save the world from the the corrupt ion and evil.
