Spider-man, after Batman, is one of my favorite personal Super Heroes.
I think one of his, and Batman's most endearing qualities is that despite all their super hero adventures they remain human and believable.
By this I mean that we can easily imagine become like them as they don't have any real super human powers, they aren't invulnerable and are in fact often beaten within inches of there deaths.
Instead they rely more on sophisticated weapons and gadgets to aid them in their battles or enhance the extraordinary abilities.
I think it is these qualities that have ensured that they have remained popular through several generations of fans.
On the contrary the likes of Thor, the X-Men, Wolverine and many of their sworn enemies have super human strength or super powers that set them apart from the rest of humanity whereas when Spider-man and Batman remove their costumes they are no different to you or me!
Spider-man, AKA Peter Parker was first introduced to the public in 1962 in issue 15 of the Amazing Fantasy Comic book.
He was orphaned t a young age and so was brought up by his loving Aunt May and Uncle Ben.
Peter had a fairly normal childhood and it wasn't until his teens that his live was going to take a rather dramatic turn, when as a high school student he attends a science exhibition and gets bitten by a radioactive spider, causing him to gain the extraordinary abilities and agility of a spider.
Ashort time after discovering these new abilities and talents Peter's Uncle is murdered during a burglary and in a fit of anger and rage Peter Parker avenges his death.
It is after using his new found talents and abilities for violence and evil that he begins to respect them and ultimately creates his alter ego Spider-man to fight injustice and evil wherever e finds it.
On leaving high school Peter takes up a career as a photographer for the Daily Bugle which is headed by dominating J. Jonah Jameson.
The job keeps Peter in just enough cash to contribute towards the household bills and ease the financial burden on his Aunt May.
However, ironically, Jonah Jameson has a patent dislike of Spiderman and is bent on discovering and exposing his true identify and Peter Parker is entrusted with the job of catching Spiderman in action on print no matter where the scene is being staged.
But who better than Peter himself to come up with the most amazing photographs of Spider-man and in the most scintillating actions?
Peter Parker also carries a yen for his teenage sweetheart, Mary Jane Watson his best friend in High School.
However, as news of his talents and abilities grow and his fame spreads he becomes the target and curiosity of many evil and corrupt villains bent on proving that they are better and stronger than he is, drawing them out like a magnet
The likes of the Green Goblin, Kingpin, Dr. Octopus, Venom, Scorpion, Carnage and the Sandman to Chameleon the thus pit themselves against him.
But Spiderman engages them in fierce battles defeating each of them in turn, and many of them more than once!
Most of his enemies also have some form of super power gained from failed scientific experiments and are hell-bent on destruction.
